Stand-up for Music!
Dear Music Parents,
There is a strong tradition of excellence in the music programs of Dow High and Midland High. This excellence is now on shaky ground. The 5th grade instrumental and vocal programs have been under attack the past two years. Many 5th grade music classes are now held outside of the school day. The direct effect is decreased interest by both parents and students which is causing decreased enrollment in instrumental and vocal music. Questions and concerns have been raised for the past two years but to no positive outcome. It’s time to act.
You, and everyone interested in the health of the music program (parents, current students, former students, etc.) are invited to attend the MPS Board of Education meeting this Monday, March 16. We have a speaker coming in from outside the school district. Let’s show support. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM at the administration building (600 E. Carpenter Street, Midland, MI 48640). Please arrive by 6:50 PM. See you Monday! Pass this message along!
Apologies for the late notice!
